What is there to do?
You could go to bars and clubs,

ROBOT RESTAURANT Homepage (English)

๐Ÿค–✨๐Ÿค–✨๐Ÿค–✨๐Ÿค–

The ROBOT RESTAURANT first opened up in 2012
and you used to see massive big breasted robots
being dragged along the streets of Tokyo
advertising their new opening.
Now though,
they don't need to self-advertise anymore
because this robot themed entertainment place
is popular beyond belief.

Its location couldn't be any better either.
What used to be Tokyo's red light district,
Kabukicho in Shinjuku is filled with bars,
izakayas, bright lights,
host and hostess bars,
and drunk businessmen causin trouble.
Kabukicho is the place to be
to enjoy Tokyo's nightlife.
So it makes sense that the Robot Restaurant
would be located there.

The villain riding the robot reminded us of the villain in Power Rangers.
Robot Restaurant is a dinner show
that features an array of dancers,
special effects,
and outlandish robots.

The moment you walk in the door,
your head will explode.
The Robot Restaurant is EVERYTHING
we have ever wanted from Tokyo.

We're going to go over what sort of stuff
to expect from the restaurant,
but we're positive our words
will do the place no justice.

It should be mentioned,
that despite its location,
the performance is very family friendly.
The dancers used to be a bit more sexual,
but to make it more open to people of all ages
they toned it down,
and made it all about the robots and the show!

NEW ROBOTS, NEW SHOWS

We asked the staff and apparently to keep up the excitement,
they do a new show concept 4 times a year.

The concept this time was an international carnival,
opening with Japanese taiko (drums),
60's America,
and Brazilian samba!
It was quite amusing.

The costumes were beautifully made,
and the dances were cute and playful
regardless how spot on to the cultures they were.
Everything was so flashy which really kept the audience's attention
and worked well with the overall setting of the room.

Our favorite overall was the opening!!
Drums, kimonos, onis (demons), samurais,
robots moving all over the place...
It was like a Japanese war call
before an intense battle.
It had such an impact on us.
Our hearts were racing,
we didn't know where to look,
we were just frozen.

They are performers, hand down.
Even if you don't understand the storyline of the show,
the extreme magnitude of the performers
makes it to where it isn't so important.

The performers and the robots make a great team.
It makes it where it can appeal to anyone!
Robot lovers, performance lovers,
dance lovers, excessive color and lights lovers,
anyone!
No one is left out here.

FOR MUSILOVERTOO
Many famous artists have been to Robot Restaurant,
but few have actually used it as a place to shoot their music video!
MUSE music video "Panic Station" for example
takes place in the streets of Kabukicho
and inside the Robot Restaurant.

Same goes for Japanese girl group Kamen Joshi
("Masked Girls", ไปฎ้ขๅฅณๅญ)!

HEAUTTHWAITING ROOM

Once the doors open,
you head up to the golded out waiting room.

Then you can just hang out and drink
while you listen to a small musical performance
that incorporates two robotic guitarists
๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿค–

Then out of no where...
COMES A TENGU!!๐Ÿ‘บ

The tengu made its way up stage
and drank nihonshu (Japanese sake),
with any 5 guests that wanted some.
Then if you wanted a picture with the tengu,
you could get one!
We were impressed how flexible he was.

Apparently, this was something new
that they added to keep the crowd entertained!
We really liked it a lot!
Not something we expected seeing.

IT'SHOTIME!

When you enter the performance room
there are seats,
that sort of look like school desks,
on either side.

We took our seats
and used that time to get some popcorn and beer.
*soft drinks and other snacks are also sold!

The lights go out and BAM!
The opening of yelling demons
riding massive neon colored robots while
doing a traditional Japanese wadaiko drum performance.
It. was. awesome.

After the opening,
it was like story time.
And boy what a story it was.

The story was more toned down,
it felt like a live action
Kung Fu Panda, Power Rangers,
Rambo, and Sailor Moon play all in one.
It just becomes a battle of robots and
the performers characters.
It's pretty cheesy,
but SO entertaining!!
We had a good laugh.

Everyone had a good time and that's what counts! :)
During the finale,
many people got up and danced along.

Many Westerns come to the Robot Restaurant,
and after being there ourselves we can see why.
The investment they put into this dinner show
is beyond expectations.
Some of us are already planning
our second trip back!!

AFTER THE
ROBOT RESTAURANT

Where should you go after the Robot Restaurant?
Omoide Yokocho
ๆ€ใ„ๅ‡บๆจชไธ
On the west side of the JR Shinjuku Station
is a cool drinking hub called Omoide Yokocho.

Here you get to experience a 1950's~60's
Japanese drinking alley scene.
It's totally different to the rest of Japan's
open drinking scene.
This alley is also really great
for becoming chummy with locals
and other tourists!

KABUKICHO'S GODZILLA
Or you can just hang around Kabukicho!
There are plenty of places to eat and drink.
There's even a few arcades in the area!

Don't leave Kabukicho
without getting a picture of Godzilla!
