What is ochazuke?

It is just simply white rice topped with seaweed and other ingredients and hot tea!! In one second, you can enjoy this nice traditional dish of Japan!

If you need some fast and easy dinner ideas, ochazuke is definitely one of the best suggestions for you!

If you ask Japanese about ochazuke, almost all of them will give you the same answer "Nagatanien"!  Actually it is Nagatanien's idea to develop this instant food which is still a best-selling item until now.

There is no rules for creating the ochazuke recipes!

Just add any ingredients as you like, maybe add iced water instead of hot tea or anything that you like and delicious!  We want some creative ideas from YOU!

These limited editions are made with local food and ingredients. The following limited editions are available now: Okinawa, Hokkaido, Shinshu, Niigata, Kansai, and Tokyo!!

01. Hokkaido Limited Edition


Do you know that Hokkaido has the largest fishing production of Japan? Sea urchins (うに茶づけ、uni chazuke) and crabs (毛ガニ茶づけ、Kegani chazuke) are used to create this Hokkaido limited edition of ochazuke.

02. Okinawa Limited Edition


Located in the southernmost part of Japan, Okinawa is famous for the beautiful sea and local food. Okinawa bitter melon, pork (コーヤーチャンプルー茶づけ、 Goya Chanpuru chazuke) and seaweed (もずく茶づけ, Mozuku chazuke)are used to make this limited edition of ochazuke.

03. Shinshu Limited Edition


Karuizawa is not just only named one of the best summer getaways in Japan, the vegetables and fruits grown there are also highly rated because of the natural environment. Wasabi (わさび茶づけ, wasabi chazuke) and Shinshu local Japanese leaf vegetable nozawa (野沢菜茶づけ、Nozawa chazuke) are used to make this limited edition of ochazuke.


04. Niigata Limited Edition


Northeast Japan is famous for the winter sports! Many foreign visitors come to ski or snowboard every year in Niigata! Yellowtail fish (ぶり茶づけ, Buri chazuke) and red crab (紅ずわいがに茶づけ, Benizuwaigani chazuke) are used to create this limited edition.

05. Kansai Limited Edition


Kansai includes famous sightseeing spots like Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe etc.. Famous Kobe beef (神戸牛茶づけ, Kobegyu chazuke) and puffer fish (ふぐ茶づけ, Fugu chazuke) are used in the Kansai limited edition.

06. Tokyo Limited Edition I



As being the capital of Japan, how can Tokyo be left! For the Tokyo limited edition, ideas from the famous fish market Tsukiji is used, and sea bream (真鯛茶づけ, Matai chazuke) and tuna (本まぐろ茶づけ, Honmaguro chazuke) are used!

07. Tokyo Limited Edition II



In this package, you can find two different tastes of ochazuke. One is the Japanese mustard spinach (小松菜茶づけ, Komatsuna chazuketaste and one is the pork soup (東京X茶づけ, TokyoX chazuke) taste.

08. Tokai Limited Edition



Speaking of Tokai, it means prefectures like Nagoya, Gifu and Mie. Therefore, you can three different tastes of ochazuke in this package. For the Nagoya's one (名古屋コーチン茶づけ, Nagoya Kochin chazuke, you can get a taste of spicy chicken wings. For the Gifu's one (あゆ茶づけ, Ayu chazuke, Ayu fish soup can be tasted. For the Mie's one (松阪牛茶づけ, Matsuzakagyu chazuke, the famous Matsuzaka beef is the taste that you get!

09. Northeast Limited Edition


For the northeast part of Japan, you can find areas like Aomori, Sendai, and Sanriku. For the Aomori's version (ほたて茶づけ, Hotate chazuke, scallop is used as an ingredient. For the Sendai's one (牛タン茶づけ, Gyutan chazuke, of course it is the famous beef tongue taste that you get! For the Sanriku one (うに茶づけ, uni chazuke, you can get rich urchin taste!!

10. Kyushu Limited Edition


For the Kyushu limited edition, you can find famous Fukuoka Prefecture's Mentaiko taste (明太高菜茶づけ, Mentaitakana chazuke)and the most popular pork in Japan, Kurobuta (black pig) from Kagoshima Prefecture (黒豚茶づけ, Kurobuta chazuke).  It sounds really special and delicious!!
