Today, we will take you to the 52th floor of the famous Roppongi Hills to enjoy the Tokyo's night view at the Tokyo City View where is 250 meters above sea level. What's more? We will give you a short tour of the Studio Ghibli Expo too! If you will visit Tokyo before 11 September, don't miss this chance to visit this special event!

Other than the amazing night view, you can find different exhibitions being held in Tokyo City View. Just like the previous event "The Exhibition of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" that we also shared with you earlier.

This summer, you can get a look of many special and never before seen works from this famous Japanese animation studio. From Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind to the newest animation Red Turtle, you can also see many marketing products like posters, production artwork, and memos etc.

Not only for the Ghibli fans, anyone who is interested in knowing about the Studio Ghibli history, this is a must-see event for you!!

By taking the high-speed elevator, you can get to Tokyo City View which is located 250 meters above sea level in just 42 seconds! At Tokyo City View, you can get an amazing view of Tokyo from the 52F indoor observation deck!

The best way to get to Roppongi Hills is to take Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and get off at the Roppongi Station, then take Exit 1C which is directly linked to Roppongi Hills!


The Best Dating Spots - Tokyo City View Area


Even Tokyo City View is the best sightseeing spot in Roppongi Hills, actually there are many other romantic places which we highly recommended for couples!!

01. The Famous Meeting Spot in Roppongi


In Ikebukuro, we have the Owl and in Shibuya, we have Hachiko's statue, so how about in Roppongi? Of course we have the famous gigantic spider!

You can see a big spider right at the entrance of the Mori Tower Building in Roku-Roku Plaza (66 Plaza). The name of the spider is Maman which is "Mother" in French. This 10 meters tall spider is created by the French sculptor, Louise Bourgeois, in 2002.

If you go under the spider, you can find there are many eggs in her belly. Actually the idea behind this bronze sculpture is "Motherhood". It also symbolizes people from around the world gather here and share the new information here!

02. Something Sweet To Start Your Date

Crème de la Crème was opened on 4th April 2013, and there is still a long line in front the shop everyday.  You can see how popular this sweet puff shop is!

Actually Crème de la Crème started their business a hundred years ago in Kyoto. They insist to use all Japanese ingredients, and each cream puff is made by professional pâtissier.

What is Crème de la Crème? It means Best of the Best!

Once you taste their cream puff, you can see how crispy the puff is. The milky cream inside is so soft and smooth, also it's not too sweet. You can also try their limited seasonal fruit puff too!

03. A Walk on Keyakizaka



A street mixed with famous brands and artworks

On Keyakizaka, of course you can find many brand names like Louis Vuitton, Salvatore Ferragamo etc., do you know that in winter, the whole street will be lighted up!! Actually this is one of the best spot to enjoy the Christmas lights in Tokyo!

04. Robo Robo Park


If you keep walking along the Keyakizaka, you will be able to find this small but interesting park. It is called RoboRobo but actually the real name of the park is Sakurazaki Park!  Probably a huge robot totem is built in the park and that's why it's called RoboRobo!!

05. Final Destination - Tokyo City View!


In order to get to the observation deck, first you have to look for the "Museum Cone" which can take you to the Tokyo City View on the 52th floor and the Mori Art Museum on the 53th floor of Mori Tower.

Just walk along the spiral staircase or take the elevator, then use the bridge connected to the Mori Tower, and you can find the ticket counters there!

The Sun (& The Moon)

You can find the Ghibli animations themed menu at this special pop-up cafe!

It's called The Sun in the day and The Moon at night because you can enjoy both the Sun and the Moon at this cafe!

Ghibli Themed Menu No. 1 - Laputa: Castle in the Sky

Toast with meatballs soup: 1,080 yen include tax

Do you still remember this toast that Pasu made for Sheeta? It even looks better in real, right?

This special toast is made with cheese, mayonnaise, ham, and an egg. Yummy! It also comes with a tomato meatballs soup.

Ghibli Themed Menu No. 2 - Soot Sprites from My Neighbor Totoro

All Black Hamburger Set: 1,380 include tax
Do you still remember the little black monsters from My Neighbor Totoro? It is so surprising that the pop-up cafe created this whole black burger!

Actually the hamburger is made with bamboo charcoal bread, a patty and vegetables. It is served with french fries and salad too. Don't get scared by its color, it tastes really good indeed!

Any My Neighbor Totoro's fan here? Do you still remember there's a scene where Totoro is holding an umbrella in the rain and waiting for the Catbus at the bus stop? This shaved ice dessert is based on this scene and created that way.  Also, you can find the parfait which is specially made for this event.

Special Features 02 - Take a picture with the Catbus

Try to capture the reflection on the window.
You may have seen a Catbus in other places or shops before, but actually this one is especially made for this Expo! Why don't you try to ride on the Catbus and feel how Satsuki and Mei feel in the movie!

You can get a look of many special and never before seen works from this famous Japanese animation studio, starting from "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" to the newest animation "Red Turtle". You can also see many marketing products like posters, production artwork, and memos etc. for the Studio Ghibli works in the last 30 years.

Please note that there are zones that you cannot take pictures, but at the main venue of this Expo, you can use your camera and mobile phones to capture this great moment! Look how amazing the airship from Laputa: Castle in the Sky is!!


Look how details each aircraft is made and designed! Still remember in which parts of the movie they appeared?


With the view of Tokyo as background, you can get different feelings in different times of day.


Today, we visit the Expo at sunset, the light totally matched with the color tones of the aircraft hanging in the venue. Look how amazing the pictures are!

Souvenir on 51st Floor

It's time to do some souvenirs shopping. Of course you can find many Studio Ghibli products here, but do you know that you can also get some limited edition products here?


What is that? A green Totoro??

Actually that's the original setting of Totoro! Which one do you like more?


At this souvenir shop, you can find toys, accessories, clothes, stationary etc., so take your time and enjoy!

One more special spot to visit at Tokyo City View - Sky Deck


Just try to relax and enjoy this amazing view of Tokyo with your special one!

On the third floor of the West Walk of Roppongi no Oka, you can find this shop where they sell the modern designers' products.


For example, you can find original products designed by Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami.
